Gone Fishin’ - A Day At The Lake.

Right at the end of February we had a string of unusually warm days that had me itching to go outside. Naturally, I hopped in the car and drove down to our local lake. It seemed like many other people had the same idea, as the parking lot was nearly full. But I was happy to share in the revelry that sun in February is cause for.

The other bright side of such a day (no pun intended) was the chance to try out some of my warmer-weather clothing picks. I’ve spoken on this before, but I have a hard time curating a warm-weather wardrobe that feels “like me”. Fall/Winter is so much more conducive to my personal style, but this year I’m determined to find a summer wardrobe that I actually like and feel confident in. These three pieces are a great first step…

Ever since the coastal grandmother trend last summer, I’ve had my eye on the perfect all-weather striped sweater, and sure enough the Chloe Crewneck by Jenni Kayne has checked all the boxes. Entirely made of a soft cotton, it’s breezy by itself or exceptionally warm if layer on top of something else. I also find it perfectly cropped - not too short, but not hanging down past most waistlines.

What says summer more than linen? I knew a casual pair of linen shorts would be a staple in any ideal wardrobe of mine, This pair from And Other Stories is exactly what I had in mind. And yes, they’re as comfy as they look.

Lastly, these sneakers that I’ve had for a few months but have finally gotten some proper use with the warmer weather. You would not believe how long I spent searching for a simple white sneaker. I’m a picky gal, and most of the styles I found felt too clunky or too 80s for my taste. But these, these are simply perfect. (A truly goldilocks and the three bears saga).

Overall, this foray out to the lake did my soul much good. I can’t tell you what it was to feel the warm boardwalk on my feel, or lay on the dock as the sun warmed my skin. It reassured me of the lovely warm days we have ahead of us. Much love! Xx
