In The Details - 3/7/23

With spring’s arrival I couldn’t help myself from a day among the daffodils.

We had an unusually warm early March here, which means our flowers started blooming a bit early - something I certainly won’t complain about. Another little bonus to the warm snap is that I was able to venture out in something other than a parka, hat, and gloves. So, in this next installment of “In The Details”, I thought I’d share one of my first spring outfits of the year.

For this spring the textile I simply can’t get enough of is crochet. It’s still warm - some form of knit wool or cotton, but the inherently loose stitching unique to crochet makes such pieces perfect for transitional weather. I reach for this crochet sweater from And Other Stories on warm spring days when I know I’ll be too cold in a blouse, but too warm in a traditional sweater. I love to scallop detail along the neckline and slightly puffed sleeves.

I began a search for woven straw tote at the beginning of this season. It’s such a simple staple piece, and no one can deny the simple practicality that a tote brings with itself. I ended up falling in love with this tote from J. Crew, and (surprise surprise), I adore the scallop detailing along the top.

One thing I love about this world is that trench coat season, unlike many other seasons, comes around twice a year. Once in autumn, and once in spring. Trench coats are classic and timeless, I love layering one on top in cold or rainy weather. This one is actually a hand-me-down I’ve had from my mom for several years. But I will unashamedly admit that I’ve had my eye on this one from Sézane that I will likely be purchasing this year.

I don’t often wear heels in my content as I’m a practical gal and I almost never find heels to be practical. I will say, these are the exception to that. The love block heel and cap-toe style is comfortable and goes with almost any outfit. I thrifted these, but I’ve been eye-ing this pair by Mark Fisher that I would like to replace mine with soon. (the previous owner scuffed them up quite a bit).

Overall, I’ve had a lovely time playing with my sense of style as the weather warms. If you’re interested in staying caught up on things as I wear/purchase them, I share links regularly on my LTK. <3
