My Style Essentials From This Autumn

Wardrobe favorites and staples & outfits I couldn’t stop repeating from this autumn.

For the past few months I have been increasingly foraying into the world of my own personal style. Something about the cooler six months of the year brings out my inner fashion enthusiast, and I have found some pieces and combinations this autumn that I know I will repeat for many autumns to come. I don’t have a large wardrobe or by any means an unlimited budget, so I try to stick with basics that play well with almost anything.

This star of this post are the Loraine Loafers by Sam Edelman. I could write a whole blog post about how much I love these shoes, but I will spare you that fate. Instead I will tell you that they fit perfectly, feel like slippers, give me absolutely zero blisters, go with any outfit, come in 20 different finishes, and I want to wear them all the time. If you get a pair of loafers, let it be these.

Although autumn is typically a bit early for wool coats, there were a few particularly crisp early mornings when it felt necessary. I found this houndstooth wool coat second hand over the summer, but there is a very similar one currently retailing. I love all the textures and patterns available in wool coats - definitely one of my favorite cooler weather staples. This ribbed top was a great find for layering in the colder months.

An outfit that I simply could not stop repeating this autumn, and it’s so simple. All you need is a silk slip, and literally any sweater. It’s effortless, so classy, and the perfect temperature for warm autumn days. I prefer a silk slip to skirt, as a slip is anchored to your shoulders and won’t slip down throughout the day. I repeated this outfit with probably 4-5 different sweaters and it never got old. I’d love another colored silk slip as well for variety, it’s definitely on my wishlist for next year. Also, no one ever talks about how comfortable silk is! It feels like gliding through warm water with each step I take.

If you found your way here from my Instagram you know that this is an outfit I repeated a painful amount this autumn. I’m sure my lovely Instagram followers are well and sick of it by now haha. Funnily enough, this blazer and skirt are from entirely different brands, but they match almost exactly, it looks like a set! I’m a firm believe in the blazer-miniskirt combo, matching or not. Pair with tights on a colder day, or go bare legged on a sunny warm day. These waterproof booties have also gotten lots of wear this autumn - depending on where you live your autumns may or not be wet, but mine certainly are. These waterproof booties are perfect - low profile but keep my feet dry.

I have had an ongoing love affair with a certain style of jean from Madewell, and that would be the Perfect Vintage Jean of theirs. It fits truly impeccably, so comfortable, nice high quality denim, and just overall my dream jean. I’ve had the style in Lunar wash for about a year now, and this autumn I ordered them in Haight wash. I am so pleased that the style still fits exactly as it did a year ago (I hate when jean companies change how their things fit overtime), and have been wearing them several times a week since. If you’re looking for a high waisted jean that is fitted up top, looser around the ankle, and still super comfortable at the waist these are for you. I’m sure I’ll be ordering them in another wash next year. :)

That is all for my overview of my autumn style essentials in 2022. I will note, if you want to stay caught up on things as I order them, it’s best to follow me over on LTK and that way you can get to things while they’re still in stock. I hope you enjoyed, and I’m excited to continue my foray into style with you all! <3
